Chanel watched a performance of Alexandre Dumas’ La Dame Aux Camelias and was mesmerized by the scentless flower’s simplicity and geometric shape. The Parisian designer was then photographed in 1913 on the beach of Etretat, France with a camellia fastened to her waistband, soon adding them to her own designs. With Chanel’s interlocking CC, the bloom is embossed on this flap bag made from canvas and trimmed with contrasting white leather. Sealed with a snap closure, it’s features a chain strap interlaced with leather – another house motif. The classic accessory opens to a main compartment and single zip pocket.
